The implementation of Ph.D program linked between University of Economics HCMC, Vietnam and Erasmus University Rotterdam, The Netherlands

To follow the Memorandum of Understanding of Joint Ph.D Program between UEH and EUR signed on May 25, 2018, the representatives of two universities have conducted a workshop to discuss related issues before officially implementing the project in March 2019.

The workshop was held on September 14, 2018 at The International Institute of the Social Studies, Erasmus University Rotterdam, The Netherlands with the participation of representatives of University of Economics HCMC and Erasmus University Rotterdam. The EUR's representatives were Prof. Dr. Arjun Bedi, Vice president, Dr. Howard Nicholas, Dr. Matthias Rieger, Ms. Nynke-Jo Smit, Policy Consultant and Ms. Erika Marques, Research Office Coordinator. For UEH, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Trong Hoai, Vice President, Dr. Ly Thi Minh Chau, Head of Department of Quality Assurance - Curriculum Development and Dr. Tran Tien Khai, Vice head of Department of Quality Assurance - Curriculum Development.

The workshop focused on discussing the requirements for implementing a Ph.D program, in order to ensure that the curriculum is in line with the rules and regulations on Ph.D training of each country. The two universities have reached a consensus on the requirements of the Ph.D program, including legal aspects, English language standard input, thesis based on international publication, required coursework's credits, dissertation process, and the project's contact person.

The project, in form of MOA, is expected to be official signed in January 2019, on the occasion of visiting UEH of Prof. Dr. Inge Hutter, ISS Rector, EUR. The first batch is expectedly recruited in March 2019.
